In his keynote address to the IIEA, John Whelan considers blockchain’s potential to alter the landscape of the financial industry. He also argues that blockchain projects must focus on three areas simultaneously: technology, demand and compliance.

About the Speaker:

John Whelan is the Managing Director of Digital Investment Banking at Banco Santander. He joined Banco Santander’s Blockchain Lab in 2016, leading a team responsible for exploring the application of this technology in the financial industry. Before joining Banco Santander, he was a start-up founder and also worked in management consulting and at the Chicago Board Options Exchange. Mr Whelan has an MBA in Finance from DePaul University and a degree in Chemical Engineering from University College Dublin.
