Power to the People: Engaging Communities in Energy Projects

As Ireland and the world transition to a low-carbon energy system, the success of renewable energy projects increasingly depends on meaningful community engagement. This panel discussion explored the challenges and opportunities of involving local communities in energy development, from offshore wind farms to onshore infrastructure projects. The panellists discussed lessons from international and domestic experiences in energy transitions and explore the role of transparency and trust in project planning. The panel also examined practical strategies for consultation, communicating benefits, addressing concerns, and building long-term relationships between developers and communities.
This event is part of the IIEA’s REthink Energy series, organised in partnership with ESB.
