The Young Professionals' Network
The IIEA established the Young Professionals’ Network in 2008 to provide young professionals, between the ages of 20-35, from different sectors including the business and legal communities, the media, the public sector, NGOs and academia, among others, with access to leading thinkers, policy makers and business people from Ireland and abroad. Issues of interest to Ireland in the European and international context are addressed in a relaxed, informal, after-work environment. Events usually take place every four-six weeks from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. at the IIEA’s city-centre location and they are a great opportunity for professionals to meet and interact with their peers over a glass of wine.
Previous speakers at the YPN include: Chairman of BP and former European Commissioner, Peter Sutherland; former President of the European Parliament, Pat Cox; Presenter, Channel 4 News, Jon Snow; former President of Ireland and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mary Robinson; Senator David Norris; and Irish Times Foreign Correspondent, Mary Fitzgerald. A wide range of topics have been addressed by these speakers, including; the future of the Euro; the role of the media; Ireland’s role in the world; the Lisbon Treaty; and the Arab Spring.
Each December, the YPN also hosts a Christmas Review of the Year with a panel of leading commentators examining the year's political and economic developments in Ireland and the EU.
