Are Europe’s Voters Shifting to the Extreme Right? – YPN with Naomi O’Leary

At this in-person IIEA Young Professionals Network (YPN) event, we welcomed Naomi O’Leary, Europe Correspondent of The Irish Times. This event took place on Thursday, 17 November 2022 with a complimentary drinks reception beginning at 6.00p.m. followed by a discussion with Naomi O‘Leary, moderated by Daire Lawler, Chair of the YPN, from 6.30p.m – 7.30p.m.

Following recent elections in Sweden and Italy, and against the broader backdrop of gains for the parties of Marine Le Pen and Viktor Orbán in 2022 elections in France and Hungary respectively, Naomi O’Leary, Europe Correspondent of The Irish Times, discussed whether Europe’s voters are shifting to the extreme right. She considered what takeaways there could be for Irish citizens and policymakers who are interested in bolstering support for liberal democracy.
