A YPN Evening with H.E. Vincent Guérend, Ambassador of France to Ireland

The IIEA YPN hosted an evening with H.E. Vincent Guérend, Ambassador of France to Ireland.

Ambassador Guérend participated in a ‘fireside chat’ with Daire Lawler, Chair of the YPN, and a discussion with members. Reflecting on a number of policy issues, including trade, climate change, and economic policy, among others, Ambassador Guérend considered whether France really is Ireland’s closest EU neighbour.

 

About the Speaker:

Vincent Guérend has been French Ambassador to Ireland since September 2020. His previous posts focused on European Affairs and Asia. He spent 12 years in the EU institutions (European Commission and European External Action Service (EEAS), most recently as EU Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam) and then fulfilled several roles in the French diplomatic service. Ambassador Guérend was the First Deputy Secretary General for Franco-German cooperation in 2003-2004 following the creation of joint Franco-German cabinet meetings in 2003. He is an alumnus of the ENA (Ecole Nationale d’Administration).
