Since his appointment as Minister of Economy and Finance in May 2017, Minister Le Maire has overseen domestic reforms in many areas, including taxation and changes to the business environment. At the European level, he is a strong advocate of deeper Eurozone reforms and the need to agree proposals on digital taxation. In his keynote address to the IIEA, Minister Le Maire offers his insights on the current issues in French and European economic policy.

Bruno Le Maire is the Minister of Economy and Finance in Edouard Philippe’s government under Emmanuel Macron’s presidency. Minister Le Maire began his career as Foreign Affairs Adviser at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In June 2007, he was elected as an MP for the Eure département. In December 2008, he was named Minister of State for European Affairs in François Fillon’s government before being appointed Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries in June 2009, a position he held until May 2012. He was re-elected as MP in 2012 and 2017. Minister Le Maire is graduate of the École normale supérieure, Sciences Po Paris and the École nationale d’administration.
