The Future of Remote Working: Working from Anywhere?

Even before 2020, remote working was on the rise throughout the global economy, a trend that accelerated dramatically following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. In his address to the IIEA, Professor Prithwiraj Choudhury argues that individuals, teams and entire workforces, can perform well while being entirely or mostly distributed—and that the evidence suggests that this has happened during the pandemic. Professor Prithwiraj Choudhury also assesses the future of remote working more generally and the prospects for working from anywhere (WFA).

Prithwiraj (Raj) Choudhury is the Lumry Family Associate Professor at Harvard Business School. He was an Assistant Professor at the Wharton School at the University of Pensylvania prior to joining Harvard. His research is focused on the future of work, including the productivity effects of remote working practices, the geographic mobility of workers, and the causes of geographic immobility. He earned his Doctorate from Harvard, and has Degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Management. Prior to academia, Professor Prithwiraj worked at McKinsey & Company, Microsoft and IBM.
