On the 7th anniversary of the IIEA’s Brexit Brief, the first issue of which was published on 17 December 2015, the Brexit story continues: the Stormont impasse saw the fifth unsuccessful attempt to elect a Speaker; In London, it was indicated that the Northern Ireland Protocol Bill will not return to the House of Lords until the new year at the earliest, to allow time for a deal to be struck between the UK and EU; And the prospect has been raised of the completion of an EU-UK agreement on Valentine’s Day in February ahead of the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement in April.
