Brexit Brief 140
On Tuesday 25 October 2022, Rishi Sunak became the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, replacing Liz Truss, whose tenure lasted just six weeks. At 42 years old, Mr Sunak is the youngest UK Prime Minister and, notably, the first of Indian ancestry. He takes charge of the UK at a time of significant domestic strife, and will immediately face a number of key challenges – not least maintaining the unity of his own, increasingly fractious, party. Meanwhile, talks continue between the EU and UK on the issues surrounding the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland.
