The Consolidated and Annotated version of the Treaties as amended by the Treaty of Lisbon

The Treaty of Lisbon (2007), like its predecessor treaties Amsterdam and Nice, is an amending text that modifies the Founding Treaties of the European Union, which are more commonly referred to as the ‘rulebook’ of the European Union.  The amendments contained in the Treaty of Lisbon must be introduced into this rulebook in order to make sense.

The Institute of International and European Affairs in early 2008 took the innovative decision to produce more of the first reader-friendly consolidated versions of the founding Treaties, as amended by the Treaty of Lisbon.

With this complete consolidated and annotated version of the Treaties as amended by the Treaty of Lisbon, the individual reader is able to identify exactly what the Treaty of Lisbon will amend in the European Union’s rulebook.  This reference document will no doubt prove to be of further value to researchers, students and engaged citizens.
