This paper, published as part of the Future-Proofing Europe project supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs, looks at the rise of the nationalist and far-right across Europe ahead of the 2024 European Parliament elections. With the European elections less than two weeks away, these groups are set to make significant gains in their numbers of MEPs which will see their influence increase in the Parliament for the next five years. This paper will see what potential effects this could have on European politics, policymaking, and centrist mainstream political parties.
