This briefing note provides an overview of an IIEA event called Horizon Scanning for Enterprise Growth, the first in a two-part series on the subject of horizon scanning. This panel event, organised in conjunction with Enterprise Ireland and the Irish Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, focused on how horizon-scanning tools can assist and support policymakers, citizens, and organisations in making sense of, and addressing uncertainty, as well as identifying potential opportunites arising.

The speakers covered topics such as cases of best practice of horizon-scanning, foresight exercises in Ireland, the OECD’s work using strategic intelligence, and the experiences of Business Finland regarding foresight.
