Future UK-EU Trade Arrangements: Implications for Ireland’s Agri-food Sector

In the ongoing negotiations over the UK’s withdrawal from the EU, the upcoming discussion on the framework for the future relationship between the parties will be critical for Ireland. This IIEA publication analyses the impact that possible UK-EU trade arrangements could have on the Irish agri-food sector.

This is the first in a series of IIEA reports looking at the impact Brexit will have on a range of important sectors for Ireland and the all-island economy.

Con Lucey, the report author, was Chief Economist of the Irish Farmers Association from 1979 to 2008, where he was involved in providing information and analysis on farm production economics, national economic policy and EU policy. He represented the IFA on the National Economic and Social Council and served as the organisation’s liaison officer with Government on Social Partnership.
