The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr. Charles Flanagan, hosted an official ceremony at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Iveagh House to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Ireland and Japan in 2017. The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mr. Fumio Kishida attended the event as guest of honour.

On this occasion , the Minister launched a report by the Institute of International and European Affairs, commissioned by the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade, which examines relations between Ireland and Japan across a wide range of areas: politics, economics, trade and investment, tourism, education and culture.

The report outlines the many positive aspects of the Ireland-Japan relationship and identifies steps that could be taken to further strengthen ties between the two nations in the years ahead.
