Professor Hatziargyriou will explore the use of digital innovation to prepare Europe’s energy network for a low-carbon future, a vital step in mitigating climate change. He will present the EU’s energy policy, the ETIP SNET stakeholders’ view on the transition to a circular economy, and areas of innovation and research in smart networks.

About the Speaker:

Nikos Hatziargyriou is the Chair of ETIP SNET, a network of experts and energy sector stakeholders which guides research and development to support Europe’s energy transition. He is also CEO of Greece’s Distribution System Operator, and has been a Member of European Distribution Systems Operators’ Board of Directors since 2015. He has been a Professor at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) since 1985, participating in more than 60 research projects.
