Living and Working in an Era of Disruption – Insights from Eurofound

Amidst a period of unprecedented social and economic upheaval, Ivailo Kalfin, Executive Director of Eurofound, discusses the radical consequences for living and working conditions across Europe. The implications for society arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, inflation and rising energy prices will all be explored. The consequences of these developments for financial security, access to healthcare, the nature of work, trust in government, mental health and wellbeing – especially for women and young people – will be particularly examined

These consequences will be assessed by drawing on Eurofound’s surveys, which provide a unique snapshot of living and working in Europe over the past two years. The fifth round of surveys was completed in May 2022 and was based on responses from over 200,000 people. Eurofound’s findings give valuable insights into how living and working conditions have changed and on key challenges policymakers will need to address.
