France and Ireland: New Borders, New Futures

This in-person panel discussion will be hosted by the Alliance Française, 1 Kildare Street, Dublin 2, and it is organised in association with the Normandy for Peace Initiative.

Informed by the transformational events of the Normandy landings – ‘D-Day’ - in 1944, the ‘Normandy for Peace Initiative’, was established by the Regional Council in a bid to become a driving force for the resolution of conflicts.

The maintenance of peace on the island of Ireland has been the overriding concern of EU negotiators during the establishment of new arrangements, following the UK’s departure from the EU. At present, France is Ireland’s closest EU neighbour. This panel disucssion, which will be chaired by Dr Barry Colfer, IIEA Director of Research, will assess the current state of relations between Ireland and France – in particular the Normandy Region - following the UK’s departure from the EU.

Please note that the panel discussion will begin at 7.00p.m. and will be preceded by refreshments at 6.30p.m. Please also note that there are a limited number of tickets available for this event.
