Are We Entering a New Era of High Inflation?

Consumer prices continue to rise in the euro area and the United States, and further upward price pressures are expected globally as a result of Russia’s war on Ukraine. Against this backdrop, Prof. John B. Taylor, the author of the Taylor Rule, which is used extensively by central banks to set interest rates, considers whether the world is entering a new era of higher inflation and what to do about it.

About the Speaker:

John B. Taylor is the George P. Shultz Senior Fellow in Economics at the Hoover Institution and the Mary and Robert Raymond Professor of Economics at Stanford University. He is also the director of Stanford’s Introductory Economics Center. An award-winning teacher and researcher, Prof. Taylor served as Senior Economist and Member of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers, as Undersecretary of the Treasury for International Affairs, and on the G-20 Eminent Persons Group. Prof. Taylor’s book First Principles, winner of the 2012 Hayek Price, outlines his views on how to restore America’s prosperity. His most recent book is Choose Economic Freedom: Enduring Policy Lessons from the 1970s and 1980s with George P. Shultz.
