With Christmas and New Year behind us, a busy fortnight has seen a new UK Foreign Secretary and Northern Ireland Secretary; the newly elected Taoiseach and Tánaiste; and the UK Labour Party leader all crowding into Belfast for meetings with the Northern Ireland political parties, community and business representatives. Meanwhile, the new optimism surrounding the negotiations on the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland continues, as agreement is reached on data-sharing and customs arrangements in Belfast port.
