Brexit Brief 136
Boris Johnson’s resignation as UK Prime Minister led immediately to a leadership contest in the Conservative party. After four rounds, two candidates remain – Liz Truss, former Foreign Secretary, and Rishi Sunak, the former Chancellor. In the next phase, 160,000 Conservative party embers will cast their votes, with the results expected by 5 September. Meanwhile, the UK’s NI Protocol Bill continues its passage through the Houses of Parliament, and is now in the Committee stage, where it has generated significant debate. Issue 136 of the Brexit Brief covers all the major recent developments in Ireland-UK and UK-EU relations.
