Brexit Brief 114

Lord David Frost and Sir Keir Starmer travelled to Northern Ireland on separate trips and with very different messages concerning the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland. Lord Frost, along with Northern Ireland Secretary Brandon Lewis penned an op-ed in the Irish Times in which they said that the UK will “consider all options”, if necessary, should solutions not be found to the Protocol’s implementation. This promoted a sharp rebuke in Ireland, in particular from former Taoiseach John Bruton, who called it “menacing”. This edition of the Brexit Brief covers these developments, and brings together reaction from the UK, EU and Ireland.

The Brexit Brief is written by Tony Brown, IIEA Senior Fellow, on behalf of the IIEA’s UK Expert Group.
