A Post-Election Guide to the New European Parliament, 2024-2029

After the European Parliament elections in June 2024, the first plenary of the new Parliament took place in Strasbourg on 16-19 July 2024. Ahead of this sitting, eight political groups (and the non-attached members) emerged, one more than during the previous 2019-2024 Parliamentary term. This post-election guide follows on from a previous Easy Guide to the European Parliament Elections, produced as part of the Future-Proofing Europe project. This post-election guide outlines the new composition of the European Parliament, the updated political groups, and maps of the updated European Parliament constituency borders in Ireland. Further, it provides an overview of the Irish MEPs who were (re-)elected in June, which constituencies they represent in the European Parliament, and which groups they are linked with in the European Parliament.
