About the Speaker:

Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo has had a distinguished political and diplomatic career, beginning as Colombian Consul in Tokyo 1976-1982. He subsequently served in postings as Ambassador to the UN, the Russian Federation, the Kingdom of Sweden, Finland, Iceland, and Denmark, the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and as Head of Mission to the EU. From 1992 to 1994 he was Minister of Education of Colombia, and also served as High Commissioner for Peace in Colombia. He was Minister of the Interior from 1997-1998.
