What will the future foundation of Moscow’s relations with Europe be? In his address to the IIEA, Dmitri Trenin frames Russia’s relations with the United States as a confrontation which will only get worse. He will address the role of Europe in this conflict, and identify what the Kremlin seeks in its relations with European countries.

About the Speaker:

Dmitri Trenin is the Director of the Carnegie Moscow Center, and has been with the center since its inception. He also chairs the research council and the Foreign and Security Policy Program. He retired from the Russian Army in 1993. He has held senior research fellowships at the Institute of Europe in Moscow and the NATO Defense College in Rome. He served in the Soviet and Russian armed forces from 1972 to 1993.
