Mr Rynning-Tønnesen examines the challenges and opportunities for utilities in light of increased dependence on the renewable energy industry.



Mr Rynning-Tønnesen argues that Ireland and Norway have a lot in common, including a long Atlantic coastline creating vulnerability to more extreme weather. He will address the opportunities and challenges that arise from increased dependence on renewable energy sources. He also explores key issues facing utilities, including the management of supply intermittency and the promotion of electrification.

About the Speaker:

Mr Rynning-Tønnesen is the CEO of Statkraft, Europe’s largest producer of renewable energy. He holds a Master of Science degree from the Norwegian Institute of Science and Technology and has previously worked with McKinsey and Norske Skog. He is a Commissioner in The Global Commission on the Economy and Climate, an international initiative to examine how countries can achieve economic growth while dealing with the risks posed by climate change.
