In the aftermath of the UK Referendum, a considerable amount of analysis has been undertaken to identify the direction and shape of an EU27. In his address to members, President Anastasiades outlined his country’s perspective on the future of the EU, the important regional role of Cyprus and the state of play in the ongoing negotiations to reach a comprehensive settlement in Cyprus.

About the Speaker:

Nicos Anastasiades was inaugurated as President of the Republic of Cyprus on 28 February 2013. Prior to this he was a member of the House of Representatives, where he served since 1981. In 1995, he was appointed to the National Council, which was tasked with advising the Cypriot President on matters relating to the partition of Cyprus. President Anastasiades studied Law at the University of Athens and pursued his postgraduate degree in Maritime Law at the University of London.
