In her address to the IIEA, Michelle O’Neill argues that the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union undermines the institutional, constitutional and legal integrity of the Good Friday Agreement, which defines the relationships within and between Ireland and Britain. She examines the implications of this radically new territory, and examines the democratic alternative for Ireland’s future beyond Brexit.

About the Speaker:

Ms. O’Neill is Sinn Féin Vice President, Leader in the Northern Assembly and an MLA for Mid Ulster. She served in local government from 2005–2010, and was elected to the Northern Assembly in 2007. O’Neill subsequently served as the Executive Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development (2011-2016) and as the Executive Minister for Health (2016–2017)
