WEBINAR: Offshore Wind: The Future of Irish Energy?

Friday, 20 November | 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

This address is the fifth event in the 2020 ESB/IIEA lecture series entitled, REthink Energy. In her address, Alla Weinstein will examine the important role that deepwater offshore wind energy is already playing around the world – and the role it will play in Ireland’s low-carbon energy future. She will discuss the ways that Ireland can harness its tremendous offshore wind resources by installing floating offshore wind farms off its Atlantic shoreline. Ms Weinstein will argue that this development will help Ireland reach its decarbonisation and renewable energy targets. She will show that the technology needed for floating offshore wind turbines is proven and market-ready, and that, by advancing research and technology development, offshore wind could become a baseload energy source for Ireland.
