Following the European Commission’s publication of the EU-Western Balkan Strategy and the recent EU-Western Balkan summit in Sofia, enlargement policy has regained a new momentum. Minister Dimitrov will outline his government’s perspective for further EU integration and the challenges in the upcoming accession process. He will also discuss Macedonia’s continued engagement with NATO and further integration in this regard.

Nikola Dimitrov has been Minister of Foreign Affairs of Macedonia since June 2017. Prior to his political career, Minister Dimitrov had a long and distinguished diplomatic career spanning two decades. He served as Ambassador of Macedonia to the Netherlands from 2009 to 2014 and Ambassador to the United States from 2001 to 2006. He received his First Class Degree in Law at St. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje in 1996 and his LLM in Law from King’s College at the University of Cambridge in 1998.
