About the Speaker:

Catherine Day was Secretary-General of the European Commission for 10 years between 2005 and 2015, the first woman to hold the post of Secretary General since the office was established in 1957. Prior to that, she served as Director General of DG Environment and Deputy Director General for External Relations. She currently serves as special advisor to European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.
