 About the Speech:

Pervasive global trends such as the changing nature of economic exchange, growing hyper-connectedness, inequality and technological change, are transforming the role of the EU. Against this background, Mr. Swieboda examined Europe’s efforts at regaining political, economic and social relevance, and reflected on the twin challenge of building Europe’s resilience and renewing its social contract. He argued for putting foresight and anticipation at the heart of governance structures, reviewed how this is done around the world; and make a number of recommendations for the European Union.
