Mr Ringelstein argued that a new dawn in the electrification of cities is upon us, which will equip urban planners with a greater ‘toolkit’ with which to envision a smarter 21st Century city. This could lead to offsetting our cities’ carbon footprint and help shape more rewarding urban experiences.

Mr Ringelstein addressed questions such as:

* What cities are currently leading the way to embrace electrification in transport and energy supply?

* Will city electrification reduce a city’s energy demand or only bring better efficiencies?

* Is urban electrification the ‘silver bullet’ to reduce a city’s carbon footprint?

This event was the first of the 2018 ESB Lecture Series entitled The Electric Lifestyle

This event took place at the Irish Architectural Archive, 45 Merrion Square East, Dublin 2.
