Business continuity during political uncertainty

In his address to the IIEA, Paul Drechsler discussed the implications of Brexit for business at the local and national level. He also discussed the CBI’s work in Northern Ireland, and how to strengthen the UK-Ireland business relationship in the future.

 

The uncertainty created by the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union has created challenges for government and citizens in recent times, but it is the business community in the United Kingdom that stands to suffer most from the lack of clarity on the future of the EU-UK relationship. In his address to the IIEA, Paul Drechsler discussed the implications of these developments for business at the local and national level. He also discussed the CBI’s work in Northern Ireland, and how to strengthen the UK-Ireland business relationship in the future.

 

About the Speaker:

Prior to being appointed President of the Confederation of British Industry, Paul Drechsler served as a member of the CBI Board from 2012. He is currently Chairman of Bibby Line Group which is headquartered in Liverpool. Before that he was Chief Executive of the privately-owned construction firm Wates Group. He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin with an (Honours) degree in Engineering Science. In February 2015, he was confered with an Honorary CBE for services to the construction industry.
