Bio:

Stephen is a graduate in Economics and Politics from Trinity College Dublin and received an MSC in International History from the London School of Economics in 2006.  In his two years as a researcher with the Institute he has developed extensive knowledge of the EU Institutions and decision-making process.  He has contributed to major IIEA publications including, Lisbon:  What the Reform Treaty Means (2008), Ireland's Future after Lisbon (2009), The Next Leap:  A Competitive Ireland in the Digial Era (2008) and The Climate Change Challenge:  Issues, Options and implications for Ireland (2008).  He is an expert in the areas of EU Energy Policy and EU Security and Defence Policy and has conducted research and organised major international conferences on these issues.  He has conducted research for the European Council on Foreign Relations and was the Irish representative at the inaugural EU Institute for Security Studies's Summer School for young researchers in Cambridge in 2009.  Stephen also has responsibility for the Institute's press activities in relation to media both in Ireland and abroad.
