Bio
Elaine trained as a solicitor with a prominent Dublin commercial law firm specialising in European, Competition, Procurement, Environmental and Energy law. She advised private and public sector clients on a broad spectrum of issues including waste, planning, competition issues arising from grid connection as well as representing clients in multi-million euro dispute adjudications. In 2009 Elaine took up a position as an in house legal advisor for Sustainable Energy Africa in Cape Town, South Africa. She advised on the legal mandate of local, national and provincial governments to implement renewable energy and energy initiatives including for example building bye laws and large scale solar water heater roll out.
Elaine studied law in University College Dublin and Université de Fribourg in Switzerland, graduating in 2001. She completed an internship at the Legal Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Dublin before commencing a Masters in Economics Science in European Economic and Public Affairs at the Dublin European Institute. Elaine is also qualified as an attorney-at-law at the New York Bar.
