Making Sense of European Justice and Home Affairs Policy: Ireland and the Lisbon Treaty
1 of a series of 3
Developed with the support of the European Commission for the project Europe 2.0, the pamphlet Making Sense of European Justice and Home Affairs Policy: Ireland and the Lisbon Treaty is part of a three part series addressing European policies. The series, which also addresses social policy and defence policy, is easy to understand and targeted at young people and those who want to find out more about the EU.
This pamphlet begins by defining the European Union's Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) Policy and following its progress since its initial development in 1999. It then goes on to explain the changes that will occur under the Lisbon Treaty and the JHA decision-making process. Additionally, the pamphlet addresses Ireland's position on JHA Policy under Lisbon, including policy on asylum, border checks and immigration. Finally, the pamphlet explores security concerns and judicial cooperation.
All three pamphlets are available free of charge.
