Lord Puttnam speaks at IIEA
20 Jan 2010Lord Puttnam addressed a breakfast meeting of the IIEA's Digital Future Group on the topic of Education in the Digital Society. Introducing his keynote with a short clip from his latest film, We are the people we are waiting for, the Oscar-winning film producer highlighted the crucial role of the education system in preparing young people of today for the emerging Digital society of tomorrow. As the website for this film states, "the world is changing rapidly - but our education system is not keeping pace". Puttnam emphasised the need for the education system to embrace technology and foster digital literacy at an early stage to create the next generation of informed and responsible digital participants. He called on Government to prioritise education spending and provide the resources necessary to meet this challenge.
