Roundtable discussion with John Podesta, President of the Centre for American Progress, and former Chief of Staff to Bill Clinton.

About the Speech:

John Podesta met with the US Group to discuss a range of EU-US issues including: i) EU-US counterterror cooperation, ii) US foreign policy orientations - including the recent shuffling of US diplomatic staff from the EU to Asia, Middle East and Africa, iii) US data protection, and iv) prospects for the Democratic Party in the forthcoming US elections.

John Podesta is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for American Progress. He is also currently a Visiting Professor of Law on the faculty of the Georgetown University Law Centre.

Previously, Podesta served as Chief of Staff to President William J. Clinton from October 1998 until January 2001. From January 1993 to 1995, he was Assistant to the President, Staff Secretary and a senior policy adviser on government information, privacy, telecommunications security and regulatory policy.

About the Speaker:

John Podesta is the President and CEO of the Center for American Progress. Under his leadership, the Center has become a notable leader in the development of and advocacy for progressive policy.
