Kirsty Hughes, former Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) and coordinator for the European Policy Institutes Network (EPIN) addressed members of the Institute on "Turkey's new government: putting the ball back in the EU's court?".


This event was particularly timely given the recent Turkish general election and the election of Abdullah Gul as President of Turkey. Dr Hughes’s presentation assessed how the strengthened position of the governing AK party have impacted upon accession negotiations with the EU.
