About the Speech:

Tony McNulty, UK Minister of State for Security, Counter-terrorism, Crime and Policing will visit the Institute on Thursday 1 November 2007 to give a keynote address on “Counter Terrorism in the 21st Century: Legislation is not enough.”

The EU faces the challenge of providing for ever-increasing security needs in response to threats to social order and stability both from within and also in response to the threats permeating the EU’s external borders. The Minister will give an overview of the issues that dominate the British security landscape such as extremism, illegal immigration, border protection and terrorism and the policies that have been put in place to respond to such challenges.
