About the Speech:

The Food Harvest 2020 report situates Irish agri-business at the centre of the government’s strategy for a smart, sustainable economy, and the industry faces a unique set of challenges and opportunities. Mr. Moran delivered an address on Ireland’s Agri-food Sector and CAP, addressing the potential of the sector for the Irish economy and the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy.

About the Speaker:

Tom Moran was appointed Secretary General of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food with effect from 1 January 2005. He joined the Department in 1980 as Administrative Officer and served in a variety of posts in that Department, including Principal Officer of Milk Policy Division and Assistant Secretary General. He also served in the Irish Embassy in Paris as Agriculture Attaché to France, and to the OECD, on secondment to the Department of Foreign Affairs.
