At this event, Commissioner Geoghegan-Quinn delivered a keynote address on The Role of Research, Innovation and Science in Supporting European Economic Recovery

This event was hosted by the IIEA Brussels Branch and took place at the Permanent Representation of Ireland to the European Union.

About the Speaker:

Prior to joining the European Commission, Máire  Geoghegan-Quinn was from 2000-2010 a Member of the European Court of Auditors. From 1975 to 1997 she was an Irish parliamentarian and has held posts as Minister for European Affairs, Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications and Minister for Justice. She was a member of the Irish Government team which negotiated the Joint Declaration of December 1993 by the British and Irish Governments on Peace and Reconciliation in Ireland.
