First of all, I very much appreciated the style by which this commemorative event was conducted by the Institute and the substance of two lectures. Unfortunately, after the hopes connected with the implementation of the Lisbon Treaty the current actions (or rather 'non-actions')of the EU in view of the critical developments in North Africa+Middle East seem to demonstrate that Europe failed its 'stress test' of at least 'speaking with one voice', let alone 'acting together'. But do we not owe it to Prof. Dooge's personal exmple and legacy - i.e. to accept the challenge and never to give up in promoting the European concept despite he inherent difficulties?
