About the speech:

The Energy Community was established in 2006 to extend the EU internal energy market to South-East Europe. In 2011 it was described by the European Commission as a “success story” that serves as a model for regional cooperation on energy matters. Ukraine and Moldova recently joined the Energy Community and it is expected that the organisation’s membership will widen to include more neighbouring states in the coming years. Mr. Neykov discussed the experience and work of the Energy Community over the past five years and the direction it will take in the future.

About the speaker:

Slavtcho Neykov became the first Director of the Energy Community Secretariat in 2006, having worked in the energy sector since 1992. A lawyer by training, Mr. Neykov also holds a Masters in European Integration from the University of Limerick.
