Economists Group Meeting with Pat McArdle

The ECB, Interest Rates and Prospects for the Irish Property Market

About the Speech:

Pat McArdle, Chief Economist at Ulster Bank, addressed the group on the topic of: "The ECB, Interest Rates and Prospects for the Irish Property Market?". This meeting preceded the ECB Governing Council meeting in Dublin on 10 May, 2007.

The recent upward trend in interest rates since December 2005 has seen rates rise by 175 basis points to their present level of 3.75%. This has been one of the main factors in the recent slow down of the Irish property market. Pat McArdle assessed these trends and offered perspectives on future prospects for this important sector of the economy.

Please see below for PPT of Mr. McArdle\'s presentation.
