Sabine Freizer, the Istanbul-based Director of the International Crisis Group’s Europe Programme, discussed the prospects of progress in the ongoing UN negotiations between Turkey and Cyprus. With Cyprus taking up the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union in July 2012, the renewed efforts to reach a deal on the reunification of the island have taken on a wider regional and European significance.
