About the Speaker:

Nicolai Wammen was appointed Danish Minister for European Affairs in 2011. A Member of the Social Democratic Party, he previously served as Mayor of Aarhus from 2006 to 2011 and as a Member of Parliament from 2001 to 2005.

About the Speech: 

In his speech, Minister Wammen discussed the future of the EU from a Danish perspective, reflecting on its position as a small state in the EU system. He also discussed the Danish Presidency’s ambitious agenda, and its four key areas of focus – a responsible Europe, a dynamic Europe, a green Europe and a safe Europe.
