“The Bubble is Close to Bursting: Water Security is the Climate Change Adaptation Issue?

About the Speech:

Dominic Waughray, Senior Director and Head of Environmental Initiatives of the World Economic Forum, addressed the Energy and Climate Change Groups on the topic of “The Bubble is Close to Bursting: Water Security is the Climate Change Adaptation Issue”

About the Speaker:

Mr. Waughray is lead author of the recently published report “The Bubble Is Close to Bursting: A Forecast of the Main Economic and Geopolitical Water Issues Likely to Arise in the World during the Next Two Decades”, discussed at the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos in January of this year. The report argues that we are on the verge of “water bankruptcy” in many parts of the world following a series of regional water “bubbles” over the past 50 years in parts of China, the Middle East and India, problems that are exacerbated by the challenge of climate change. The report is available here.
