The Challenge of Security across Wider Europe

OSCE Secretary General Mr Marc Perrin de Brichambaut spoke at the IIEA on Tuesday, 8 September 2009 at 11:30am.

About the speech:

Ambassador de Brichambaut offered an overview of the role of the OSCE in the modern security context.  He outlined the challenge currently facing the Organisation both in Eastern Europe and West of Vienna, where the OSCE HQ is located.   His speech discussed  the OSCE's relationship with multilateral organisations such as NATO and the UN and  with the major security powers in Eastern Europe.  He expressed confidence that the OSCE's values and aspirations are today more relevant than ever.

About the speaker: 

Ambassador Marc Perrin de Brichambaut of France took up his post as Secretary General of the OSCE in June 2005. He had previously held a number of senior positions in the French administration, as well as in international organizations as a member of the Conseil d'Etat.
