About the Event: 

Professor Jonathan Stern addressed members of the Institute on the future of Russian Gas, the role Gazprom will play in this future and natural gas security issues for Europe. 

About the Speaker:  

Professor Jonathan Stern is Director of Gas Research at the Oxford Institute of Energy Studies, where he is creating a Research Group, which will carry out independent research and commentary on international gas issues worldwide.  

He is also Honorary Professor at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum & Mineral Law & Policy, University of Dundee and holds fellowships in the Sustainable Development Programme at the Royal Institute of International Affairs' and in the Department of Environmental Science and Technology at Imperial College in London. He is Chairman of the British Institute of Energy Economics and Member of the Board of Advisors at the Institute for Energy, Law and Enterprise at the University of Houston. 

Over the past two decades Professor Stern has become an internationally known speaker and author on natural gas issues, the regulation of gas and electricity utilities and energy and climate change in transition economies. 

He has published extensively on energy and natural gas issues in the UK, Europe, the former Soviet Union and Asia. His most recent book is entitled: ‘Natural Gas in Asia: the challenges of growth in China, India, Japan and Korea’.
